House of the Philippines --- Balboa Park, San Diego, California

The House of the Philippines is a place to learn about the history, culture and people of the Philippines.  It is one of many cottages that make up the House of Pacific Relations located in Balboa Park, the cultural heart of San Diego.  The mission of these Houses is to provide a cultural experience for the residents and visitors of San Diego.

The House of the Philippines will hold it's annual Lawn Program in celebration of Philippine Independence Day and the recent renovation of the cottage.  Come visit the cottage and watch the program featuring Philippine dance and music by the Samahan Philippine Dance Company and the Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble.

Filipino food will be sold starting at 12 noon.

The House of the Philippines is proud to sponsor an educational program designed to provide personal enrichment on the Philippines, it's culture and people; and the Filipino American community in the United States.

Speaker's Forum - Speakers who share their knowledge and personal insight on varied topics.

Philippines 101 - Presentations on the history, culture, food and language of the Philippines.

Workshops - Hands on learning experience on Filipino crafts.

Besides hosting on Sundays, these are the major events for the year:

1. Ethnic Food Fair - Houses sell food of the home country, held on the last Sunday of May.

2. Lawn Program - Hour long program showcasing the culture of the Philippines held around June 12 to celebrate Philippine Independence Day.

3. Christmas Festival - Part of the Balboa Park December Nights, all Houses sell food, held on the first Friday and Saturday of December.
